Kim Gordon

I came late to Sonic Youth, after they split. I read Kim Gordon's memoir 'Girl in a Band' and was immediately interested in everything that interested her. I became fascinated by her look, so low key and electrifying.
I made contact to see if she wanted to wear anything for her performance at Koko in May 2022 and she came into the studio to try a few things. She appeared like a shimmer, so slight, but such a presence. She tried on some white suits which looked incredible, with her blonde hair. Her blonde hair which has such a light catching shimmer. She took away the ivory silk Minelli shirt with it's black silk tie. When I went to see her perform that night she was wearing the Minelli with a black mini skirt. I was ecstatic. She was so slight and delicate on stage, you couldn't take your eyes off her. She has amazing legs. Her blonde hair caught the light, so did the shirt. She was so modern. It wasn't just a performance, it came from within and it poured out on stage. She stood on an amplifier, a true rockstar.
We chatted after at the gathering in the bar. She doesn't say much, anything is good though.
I saw on instagram she kept wearing the shirt, and I sent her another one. I went to her birthday party in LA with my son Jimmy.
A few weeks ago I got some messages on instagram about a shoutout. I listened to her song, and read the lyrics. There it was, my name. BYE BYE. The list of essentials before leaving town. The essential stuff of life and I was on that list. I felt a chemical reaction of so much delight. Kim talks about not feeling cool but she makes everyone else feel cool just knowing about her. Her genius, her beauty and eternal girlishness. Her seriousness, and humour. It's all so good.
